Kalarippayat ancient Indian Martial Art From Kerala in South India


Kalarippayat is Malayalam word used to denote martial art practiced in Kerala since time immemorial. It is mainly an art of physical culture, developed in the appropriate scientific manner. The word Kalarippayat is derived from two words – Kalari meaning place and Payatt meaning practice or exercise. Also known as kalaripayat, kalarippayattu, kalaripayatu, Kalarippayat is the 'Mother of all Martial Arts'.

Kalarippayat boosts confidence and makes you fearless in front of the enemy. It develops a perfect control over the body of the practitioner of this unique form of art. At the same time it also builds flexibility in the body, increases the stamina and perfect neuro muscular co-ordination, an ability of the body to react intuitively to the senses. Various Forms of Kalarippayat :

Meyyirakkam (Body Control Exercises) : This is the first step that is taught to the students of Kalarippayat. It is the base on which future progress of the student is built up. This item builds up the complete control over the practitioner's body. Every possible form of kicking, stretching and turning of the body is perfect by the regular practice of Meyyirakkam.

Kettukari (Quarter Staff):
In the second item of Kalarippayat – a stick to give training to the students. A stick is usually five to six feet long which is usually used as a powerful weapon of the offence and defence by the students.

Cheruvadi (three span staff): The third step of Kalarippayat calls for the quick and rapid movements in shorter span of time. In this item blows are delivered and parried in quicker succession.

Gada (Mace) : Gada is the very rarely used weapon in the practice of Kalarippayat. It is mainly used by the students with broad and strong structure. The basic rule of this item is that no blows with the mace should be targeted below the waist of the enemy.

Otta (Curved Staff) : Otta involves cuts and thrusts with great quickness and adroitness at the vital points of the body. To master in the art of Otta one needs to build up greater stamina and physical endurance.

Spear : Spear is the ancient weapon used in the earlier warfare. In this item the opponents fights from the specified distance.

Dagger : It is another most powerful weapon which is blunt from both the sides. It's principal uses are slashing, cutting, and prevention of attacks.

Puliyankam : Puliyankam is the considered as the peak of the perfection in Kalarippayat. This item involves the use of sword as a weapon of offence and defence. It requires a quick eye, fast response and right presence of mind to fight this terrible sword game.

Urumi : This item requires the use of flexible sword measuring 3-4 feet in length which is sharp at both the ends. One cannot handle this until and unless he is perfected in body control exercises.

Jungle Lodges and Resort to develop Jog Fall Area


Jungle Lodges and Resorts a responsible wildlife and eco tourism company owned by Government of Karnataka has taken up development of its properties in the nearby surrounding area of the world popular Jog Falls. World Heritage Site Hampi and Belgaum to allure large number of tourists inflow in the state.

Mr N.D. Tiwari, Managing Director of Jungle Lodges and Resorts said these projects involve the combined investment of Rs 15 crore and also includes construction of lodges and resorts for the accommodation of the tourists.

While the project in Hampi will be developed near Kamalapur, the project of Jog Fall will come in vicinity. Tourists visiting Belgaum will be taken to the new facility in Khanapur.

The work on these proposals had been stated already and it would take at least a year to complete it. The Jungle Lodges and Resorts retain about 30 properities now and there was no plan to acquire new prosperities for development. Last year JLR dis business of over Rs 25 crore of which the profit was 4 crore.

Corbett National Park at Nainital, Uttaranchal

Humayun's Tomb History and Architecture


Humayun's Tomb is one of the major landmarks in the city of Delhi. It is must see tomb situated on the main Mathura Road, near it's crossing with Lodi Road. Humayun's Tomb is the Delhi's first Mughal mausoleum, constructed in 1564 after the death of the second Mughal Emperor. It was believed to be commissioned by Haji Begun, the Persian born senior wife of Mughal emperor Humayun. Humayun's Tomb today is one of the best preserved Mughal monuments in Delhi. It is renowned as the World Heritage Site and is the first example of this type of Mughal architecture in India. Being one of the major tourists attraction, it remains open on all days from sunrise to sunset. The best time to visit is between October to March.

History of Humayun's Tomb :

Humayun took over the charge of the Mughal dynasty after the death of his father Babur. But sad;y he could enjoy his kingdom for the long time. He died in an incident as he feel from the stairs of his library. His widow wife Haji Begum, took over the charge of constructing a tomb for her husband. The credit of designing the Humayun's tomb goes to famous Persian Architect Mirak Mirza Ghiyuath.

Architecture of Humayun's Tomb :


It took approximately nine years to complete this complex structure. Constructed of red sandstone, inlaid with black and white marble, on a commanding podium, looking towards the Yamuna, it stands in the center of the formal charbagh or quartered garden. It was built in accordance to the Indo Islamic architecture. The octagonal structure is crowned with a double dome that soars to a height of 38 m – the inner shell forms the vaulted ceiling. Porches on each side rises to 12.2 meter high pointed arches, flanked by outer bays and recessed windows with lattice screens of stone and marble. Below the cenotaph, inside the building, are the graves of Humayun and Haji Begum.

Tourists can also check out the Nila Gumbad, an octagonal tomb with a dome of blue prints , believed to built by the Akbar's nobles to honor a faithful servant. Another major attraction here is the impressive square mausoleum, with a double dome and two graves bearing Koranic inscriptions, is of Humayun's barber.

Day : 1 Arrival at Delhi

Day 4 : Jaipur


The forth day come with full day sightseeing tours to Jaipur. We start our excursion trip with the magnificent City Palace. The interiors of the Palace consists of halls decorated with miniature paintings, carpets, old weapons and robes of royal princess. The most interesting thing you will love watching in City Palace are the two 1.6 m tall silver vessels, which were used for the Ganges River water taken to the England in 1902. They are made from coins and are listed in the Guinness Book of Records. Day 5 : Jaipur – Agra via Fatehpur Sikri


On the 5th day of the tour we drive to the historical city of Agra, totally filled with the glory of old world charm. En route we explore Fatehpur Sikri, the political capital of India's Mughal Empire under Akbar's reign, from the year 1571 until 1585, when it was abandoned, ostensibly due to lack of water. We visit Emperor Akbar's Residential complex, Mosque & Tomb of Salim Chisti. We first check in at the hotel. Take the complete rest till afternoon. In the evening we move out for the small leisure walk in the nearby area and return back to the hotel for the overnight stay.

Day 6 : Agra

The portrayal of city of Agra in its true colors unfolds for you on the 6th day of the tour. The whole day you will be engaged in the sightseeing tour. First of all we leave for Taj Mahal – one of the most wonderful monument of the world. Tourists from all over the world are left spell bounded after witnessing the bewitching beauty of Taj Mahal. Day 7 : Agra – Jhansi (Shatabdi Exp)

After the Agra tour is over, we take the Shatabdi Express train to Jhansi. From Jhansi, we drive to Khajuraho, en route we visit Orchha, located at the distance of 16 km from Jhansi. Here we get the opportunity to explore the 16th century palaces and temples built by the built by the Bundela rulers. Than we move to Orchha Fort Complex , that also houses the Jahangir Mahal, built by Raja Bir Singh Ju Deo in the 17th century to commemorate the visit of Emperor Jehangir to Orchha. Day 9 : Khajuraho – Varanasi (Flight)

In the morning of the 9th day we will further our tour and will take a flight to Varanasi – one of the oldest inhabited city known in the world. We check in at the hotel booked for us in advance. In the later half of the day we will be visiting the holy ghats and ancient temples of the city. It is considered as one of the holiest cities in India. Day 10 Varanasi – Kathmandu (by flight)

Today we start our day with the boat ride on the river Ganges and attend the morning prayer on the Ganga Ghat. Witness the daily miracle to unfold, as the Sun appears triumphantly over the horizon. The sound of conches & temple bells add to the delicate pink fabric of dawn. The formerly hushed murmuring of ancient Sanskrit Shlokas (hymns) now rise, in one voice, to a crescendo of unparalleled piety & joy. Later we explore the city by foot and than transfer to the airport to catch the flight for Kathmandu.

Day 11 : Kathmandu

Arriving at Cochin in the morning will give you enough time to explore the places of interest in the region. We begin our excursion trip with Mattancherry Palce also known as the Dutch Palace . We check out the interiors of the palace that are decorated with the mural's from Ramayana and there are some lively displays of royal costumes and palanquins. Than we will proceed to the St. Francis Church built by the Portuguese in 1510 AD and is believed to be the oldest church built by the Europeans in India. After that we check out the Bolghatty Palace and Jewish Synagogue. In the evening we move back to the spice market and soon after that return back to the hotel for the overnight stay.

Day 2 : Cochin – Alleppey


On the 2nd day of the tour we drive to Alleppey , also known as Alappuzha. It is most famous for its boat races, house boats, coir products, fish and lakes. We get the opportunity to enchant with the fishermen in the area. Than will also venture into the lush paddy fields and will enjoy the natural beauty of the sea and the hills. Today we will take the boat cruise and stroll back into the town past the canals covered with mauve hyacinths. Overnight at the houseboat.

Day 3 : Kumarakom
Next day in the morning after breakfast we disembark the houseboat in Kumarakom, that transports you to sheer ecstasy. It is an incredible experience to cruise in the backwaters around Kumarakom, set amidst the remote villages. Today we will be engaged in lot of adventure activities such as boating, fishing and birding. We will also take the sightseeing experiences that are truly exhilarating. Later in the day we make a visit to the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary that is home to cormorants, teals, darters (snake birds), night herons, egrets, Siberian storks many other species of ducks. You may also spot here golden backed woodpecker, crow pheasant, white-breasted water hen, tree pie etc. After that our representative assists you to the hotel in Kumarakom.

Day 4 : Kumarakom – Periyar

Exploration of wilderness widens on the 4th day of the tour on your visit to the Periyar national Park. Watching the rare and endangered species of the animals such as Asian elephants, barking deer, gaur, sambar, wild dogs and strolling in their herds, provides you the most enchanting experience of the lifetime. Apart from exploring the different species of plants and animals we will also we will also enjoy wildlife photography. In the later half of the day we will be dcruising through the waters of Periyar lake around which we will enjoy the beautiful natural vistas. The overnight stay will be at the forest rest house where we will have choice of staying in the tents.

Day 5 : Periyar – Kovalam

Next morning we wake up at the call of the wilds in the jungle. After breakfast we will leave for the wildlife viewing of the sanctuary on the back of the elephant. After two hours of wildlife viewing we will get back to the tent and pack our bags to leave for Kovalam, located south of Tivandrum. There are two main beaches at Kovalam, separated by a high cliff. It is finding a new significance in the light of several Ayurvedic salons, & recuperation & regeneration resorts which provide a slew of Ayurvedic. Overnight at the hotel in Kovalam .

Day 6 : Kovalam

Today we will get up late in the morning. After breakfast we will take the small sightseeing tour, covering the main attractions of Kovalam. Later on we will indulge ourself in the water sports and Ayurvedic salons. Overnight stay at the hotel in Kovalam.

Day 7 : Kovalam – Trivandrum Airport


Today is the last day of the tour. Before leaving the city, today we take an excursion trip to Trivandrum, an ancient city with trading traditions dating back to 1000 BC. It was a trading post for spices like the rest of ancient Kerala. Here we visit the Padmanabha Swami Temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu is held sacred by the Hindus from antiquity. The temple has a large complex with a huge Gopuram. It has a tank beside it for ritual bathing. Next we visit It is situated north of the city, at Museum road & 400m east of Indian airlines. It displays an eclectic assortment of historical & contemporary ornaments, temple carts, ivory carvings & life-size figures of Kathakali dances in full costume. It has a famous collection of 8th-18th century south Indian bronze. Sri Chittira Art Gallery, an excellent collection of Indian art with examples from early to modern schools. Paintings by Raja Ravi Varma & works from Mughal & Rajput miniature paintings & Tanjore paintings embellished with semi- precious stones are displayed. Evening we take a flight to onward destination.

Day 01 - Arrive Delhi
Upon your arrival at the Delhi International Airport, you will be met by our representative who will transfer you to the hotel, booked for you in advance. Overnight stay at the hotel in Delhi.

Day 02 – Delhi
On the 2nd day of the tour you will be busy the exploring the historical monuments and shopping areas in Delhi. We start our tour with the magnificent Red Fort built by Shah Jahan in 1618. Than we come to the Jama Masjid – the largest mosque in India. After that The Gandhi Memorial – a pilgrimage for the followers of Mahatma Gandhi. After lunch make a visit to Qutab Minar – the highest stone tower in India measuring 72.5 meters. Day 03 - Jaipur
Pack your bags and get ready for a drive to the 'Pink City of Jaipur'. Check in at the hotel. Spend time at leisure. In the evening go out for the window shopping to the Bapu or Jauhri bazaar, exploring Rajasthani costumes, jutis, tubans, tie and dye etc. You can also make a visit to the ethnic Chowki Dhani village, located on the outskirts of the town. Here you can enjoy the exclusive camel ride and elephant ride, watch the puppetry show and enjoy the traditional Rajasthani dinner. Overnight stay in Jaipur.

Day 04 - Jaipur
You will be spending one more day in the city of Jaipur. Morning excursion to Amer Fort with joy ride on an Elephant - The Fort is a superb example of Rajput architecture. Afternoon city tour covering City Palace – that occupies a large area divided into a series of courtyards, gardens & buildings and a perfect blend of Rajasthani & Mughal architecture, Royal Observatory - An observatory with some rare qualities to its credit, Nawab Sahab Ki Haveli - The haveli which shows the rare beauty of Rajasthani architecture, Bazaar etc. After the day long sightseeing get back to the hotel for the overnight stay.

Day 05 - Agra
Get up early in the morning and after breakfast drive to Agra enroute visiting Fatehpur Sikri (Old Deserted town of Mughal Dynasty) - Jama Masjid, The Buland Darwaza, Palace of Jodha Bai, Birbal Bhawan & Panch Mahal. On arrival check into hotel at Agra. Afternoon visit Red Fort - a visit to the fort in 'Agra' is must since so many of the events which lead to the construction of the Taj took place here, Itmad-ud-Daula's Tomb - The tomb is of particular interest since many of its design Elephants overshadow the Taj. Dinnerand overnight stay at the hotel in Agra.

Day 06 - Khajuraho
Morning visit Taj Mahal - a poem written in white marble, the most extravagant monument ever built for love, followed by transfer to Airport to catch flight to Khajuraho, on arrival transfer to hotel. Afternoon city tour of Eastern / Western group of Temples. Overnight at hotel.

Day 07 - Khajuraho - Varanasi
On the 7th day of the tour you are again transferred to the airport to catch flight to Varanasi. On arrival in Varanasi transfer to hotel. In the afternoon get involved in your own activities. Overnight at hotel.

Day 08 - Varanasi
Today you need to get up early in the morning, to visit the Varanasi ghats and take a dip in the sacred Ganga river. Varanasi's principle attraction is the string of bathing ghats, which line the western ghats of River Ganges, enjoy boat ride at dawn. After breakfast visit the Ghats, Tulsi Manas Temple, Alamgir Temple, Bharat Mata Temple. Later free to roam about. Not to miss is the evening arti of Ganga Ma at one of these ghats. It is a sight not to be missed. Come back to the hotel for the dinner and overnight stay.

Day 09 – Shivpatinagar
The next destination on your tour itinerary is Shivpatinagar. After breakfast drive to Shivpatinagar enroute visiting Kushinagar : a small town amidst a dense forest, famous as this was the place where Buddha passed into Parinirvana (went for his heavenly abode). Arrive into the charming & colonial estate and check in into hotel. Afternoon visit Kapilvastu - the place where Buddha spent his childhood and youth. Day 10 - Chitwan

Day 11 - Chitwan National Park
Day free for Jungle activities such as Nature walk, bird watching, village visiting. Elephant back Safari, etc. the park is a home to endangered flora and fauna. Day 12 - Pokhara

Day 1 : Arrive Delhi

Upon your arrival at the Delhi International Airport, our representative will be there to assist you and transfer you to the hotel where you are scheduled to stay by night.

Delhi is India's main point of arrival for the foreign tourists. Throwing its charismatic charm on its visitors, the city is enriched with the rich cultural past and heritage. Amongst the must visited places during the trip to Delhi are its historical monuments, galleries, museums and lot of other interesting places. Your tour to Delhi will let you experience the best of old and new. It is the excellent base of visiting some of the most exciting and exotic destinations that mesmerizes the tourists and leave them spell bound.

Day 2 : Delhi

On the 2nd day of the tour we embark on our first journey to explore Delhi – the capital city of India. We will start with the old Delhi, that takes you to the medieval era and introduce you to the magnificent forts, great architecture, narrow lanes and the crowed bazaars. We will start with the Great Jama Masjid- the biggest mosque in whole Asia.

It stands behind the Red Fort and is an eloquent reminder of the Mughal religious fervor. Later on we take the rickshaw ride to the chandni chowk exploring the vibrant shopping complex and enjoying the delicious food bonanza. Or just drop in at Janpath – for purchasing the variety of handicrafts items and clothes at the very reasonable rate.

Afternoon we will proceed on sightseeing to the New Delhi – a metropolis with the rich cultural reflection of the country. As compared to the old Delhi the New Delhi is far more spacious and is well executed. The very first attraction will be Raj Ghat – the memorial site where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated. It is the great place to relax and spend time in peace.

After that we will walk past the India Gate, memorial raised in honor of the Indian soldiers martyred during the Afghan war. Further we drive to the another most important sightseeing destination – Qutab Minar, built by the Qutub-ud-din in the year 1206. We will also visit Humayun's Tomb, memorial of the Mughal emperor Humayun, built in 1565.

You will obviously do not want to miss out the tour to the Akshardham Temple – the World Heritage Site that add to the beautification of the city. It offers the visitors the serenity that pervades the temple and its architecture.

Day 3 : Delhi - Jaipur

The Sojourn to the colorful city of Jaipur will began on the next day (3rd Day) after you get up late in the morning and have a breakfast. We will stay in hotel in the afternoon. After the evening tea, we will get ready for the excursion trip to the ethnic village – Chowki Dhani. Day 4 : Jaipur

On the 4th day of the tour we will be busy exploring the famous attractions of the city. We will first drive to the Amber Fort – the most fascinating landmark. Earlier it was the capital of the Kachchwaha Rajputs. One has to take the elephant ride through the mud area between the forests in order to reach the Amber fort. The next destination we will cover is the Nahargarh Fort, which is among one of the three forts built by Maharaja Jai Sawai Singh. Near to the Nahargarh fort lies the Jaigarh Fort popular for the series of the water reservoirs. After lunch we will make a visit to the Hawa Mahal built by Maharaja Sawai Singh in 1799. In the evening we will have plenty of time to explore the local market areas. Bapu market and Johra market are the most popular markets in Jaipur, known for the variety of products like the Jaipuri saris, jutis, silver jewelery, handicraft items, stones etc. After that we will get back to the hotel and catch up the long sleep after the day long excursion.


Day 5 : Jaipur - Ranthambore

Next morning get up early in the morning and prepare yourself for the sightseeing tour to the Ranthambore National Park. It is said to be the best place in the world for the tiger viewing. Here you get the opportunity to enjoy number of adventure activities like Elephant safari, birding, tiger trailing and trekking. The park was established in the year 1955 as Sawai Madhopur Game Sanctuary and was declared as the Project Tiger Reserves in the year 1973. The major attractions found in the park include leopard, tiger, nilgai, chital and gaur.

In the evening we will involve in the small sightseeing exploration of the park. Than we will take the open jeep jeep safari accompanied by the expert forest officials. To douse our day long tiredness we will take the overnight rest at the forest resort after the refreshing shower.

Day 6 : Ranthambore

Next morning before breakfast we will take elephant safari, that will let you aware of the jungle milieu better. Today we will go deep inside the forest and take some memorable photographs worth recording your nostalgia. Spotting a tiger while taking the elephant safari is something the wildlife enthusiasts carve for. The trill and adventure of tiger trailing will keep you engage for the longer time. After that we will return to the resort for the breakfast and will freshen up. Later we will visit the Ranthambore Fort, founded in the year 944 by the Chauhan Rajputs. After the defeat of the Chauhan king Prithviraj III by Muhammad of Ghori in the year 1192. The evening will be full of entertainment. The folk dances performed by the local dancers will please you immensely. If you want the local women will be happy teaching you to cook some of the popular dishes of Rajasthan. Day 7 : Ranthambore – Bharatpur

The sojourn to the Bharatpur Wildlife Sanctuary will begin on the 7th day of the tour. As we arrive at the Bharatpur Wildlife Sanctuary in the noon, we will be checking in the Laxman Vilas Palace. After the lunch and the rest is over the 7th day of the tour will bring a jeep safari tour to the park. The open safari tour will just be introductory session of the wildlife tour you are going to enjoy here. Bharatpur is one of the finest bird sanctuaries in the world founded by the Maharaja Suraj Mal in the year 1733. Day 8 : Bharatpur – Agra via Fatehpur Sikri

En route we will visit Fatehpur Sikri (Ghost Capital), the political capital of India's Mughal Empire under Akbar's reign, from the year 1571 until 1585, when it was abandoned, ostensibly due to lack of water. We visit Emperor Akbar's Residential complex,Mosque & Tomb of Salim Chisti. After reaching Agra, we will have the opportunity to visit the seventh wonder of the world – Taj Mahal. The mere glance of the unique architectural beauty of Taj Mahal will leave you throughly bewitched. As soon we are done with the sightseeing at Taj Mahal we will take halt at the local restaurant for the overnight stay.

Day 9 : Agra – Umaria (Overnight Train)

On the 9th day of the tour we will get up early in the morning and get ready for the sightseeing tour of the city. We will, start with the Agra Fort, located on the bank of river Yamuna. The Fort can be more accurately described as a walled palatial city. It was built from red sandstone, often inlaid with white marble & intricate decorations. Than we will move to the Itmad -ud-daula's Tomb that belongs to teh father of Ghias-ud-din Beg. The inlay designs and carvings of the tomb are no less than the Taj Mahal. In the later half of the day we will also visit Jahangir Mahal and Chisti's Tomb. In the evening we will take the overnight train to Umaria.

Day 10 : Umaria – Bandhavgarh National Park

Next morning we will drive to Umaria and soon after that will leave for the Bandhavgarh National Park, located in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. We will check in at the Tiger's Den Resort. After rest we will book the jeep safari in the park. A forest department guide will always there with you on these jeep trips taken inside the park, for the purpose of safety. Day 11 : Bandhavgarh National Park


Today we will take an elephant safari in the jungle, a most memorable experience. Elephant safaris are mostly organized here during the morning time, that is the best time for spotting the tigers. We will also enjoy the wildlife photography inside the park from the elephant back. Later on we will explore the Bandhavgarh forts and caves. There are 39 caves in the Bandhavgarh National Park. The oldest cave is from 1st century. Several caves carry inscriptions in Brahmi script & some caves have embossed figure such as those of tiger, pig, elephant & horseman. Badi Gufa, the largest cave, has broad entrance, nine small rooms & several pillars. It has been dated back to the 10th century. The cave appears to be primitive lacking the elaborate statues & carvings seen in the caves of Buddhist period. Overnight stay at the resort.

Day 12 : Bandhavgarh National Park

On the 12th day of the tour we will again indulge ourself in the jeep safari tour inside the park. Early morning tour sitting in the open safari strolling in the park will bring a pack of fascination. Day 13 : Bandhavgarh – Kanha National Park


We will set set foot at the Kanha National Park on the 13th day of the tour. It is 265 km away from the Bandhavgarh National Park and takes almost seven hours to reach there. In the 1930s, the Kanha area was divided into two sanctuaries, Hallon & Banjar. It was created in the year 1955. Today we will take a small trip inside the park and discover its attractive flora and fauna. We will interact with the tribal inhabited here. There are huge plateaus in the park that are thickly covered with Bija, Haldu, Dhaora trees. In the later half of the day we will take the nature walk to witness the unique beauty of the park. After dinner, overnight at the resort.

Day 14 : Kanha National Park

The small visit to the Kanha National Park will come in its full circle on the 14th day of the tour. We will start with getting up early in the morning and setting out to take elephant safari in the jungle. The elephant safari will give you the chance to view tigers and hundred of rare species of birds. So you will have ample time to rest and enjoy leisure to increase all your dog tiredness. Day 17 : Mumbai

Today we take the sightseeing tour of the dream city – Mumbai. We will start with the Gateway of India, the entrance of the port of Mumbai. It was built to commemorate the visit of King George V in 1911. Across the road we visit Prince Wales Museum, built in a confluence of Gothic & Moorish styles. It boasts a collection of ancient Indus Valley artifacts dating 2000 BC, plus some priceless Tibetan & Nepali Art. Later we take the boat cruise from Gateway of India to visit Elephanta Caves, houses rock cut temples dating back to 5th century CE. It was named by the Portuguese, after the statue of an elephant near the landing area of the island. We also drive through the Marine Drive, which runs along the shore of the Arabian Sea from Nariman Point past Chowpatty Beach to the foot of Malabar Hill. The 14th day is celebrated as Naraka Chaturdashi, it is also famous as choti Diwali among the people. Narakasur was actually the son of goddess earth and had a demons bent of mind. He liked to live in filth and was destructive by mind. He was slain by Vishnu in his eighth incarnation as Lord Krishna on this day. Than comes the 15th day Amavasya known as the Diwali day.

It is the same day Lord Rama returned to Ayodhya with Goddess Sita, after killing the demon Ravan. After Diwali comes Annakoot, known as Govardhan. On this day people worship Govardhan mountain, while the labour class or the workers cerebrate this day as Vishwakarma Puja also and worship their tools and machinery. The festival of Diwali comes to end with Bhai Dooj.

Diwali Celebrations :

Diwali is celebrated on large scale in almost all the regions of India. Preparations for the festival starts well in advance. Houses are white washed and painted accordingly. Women get up early in the morning and decorate their houses with marigold strings, mango leaves and beautiful rangolis. It is a day when Goddess Lakshmi comes down to earth. People perform Lakshmi puja, seeking wealth and prosperity for the whole year. Some people do Ganesh Puja on this day and offer modak or laddoos to the elephant god Ganesha. Houses and streets are lit up with the candles and lights. In Bengal, Diwali is celebrated as the day for Kali puja.

Diwali brings good luck for the business men as it is the time when people do maximum purchases. They exchange gifts, buy new clothes and jewelery for themselves. he fire cracker industry and sweetmeat shops do roaring business. 3 cake 800 gm each
Ingredient and Quantity
Butter : - 250 gms
Sugar : - 350 gms
Lemon Zest : - Ea1
Egg : - 200 mls
Flour : - 150 gms
Pistachio Ground : - 225 gms
Sponge Crumbs Fresh : 270 gms
Apple diced : - 300 gms
Butter : - 125 gms
Glucose : - 125 gms
sugar : - 125 gms
Water : - 70 mls
Pistachio Nuts :- 125 gms
Cashew Nuts : - 175 gms

How to make Apple and Pistachio Cake
Cream the butter with the sugar and add eggs
Add ground pistachio and flour to it
Add apple and sponge crumbs
Bake at 180 degree C 45 minutes until ¾ done. In the meanwhile boil the sugar, glucose, butter and water.
Add the remaining nuts and spread onto the hot cake. Continue baking until golden brown on the top.

Ingredients
Maida : - 1 kg
Yeast : - 25 gm
Salt :- 20 gm
Sugar : - 80 gm
Butter : -200 gm
Milk : - 500 gm
Gelatin : - 2 gm
Vx2 : - 2 gm
Almond Paste : - 300 gm
Almond Flakes : - 200 gm

Procedure :
Mix yeast sugar and milk
After that add all other ingredients on slow speed and than fast speed for 2 minutes
Allow to rest outside for 20 minutes
Keep in fridge for 2 hours
Add 400 gm butter to 1 kg of dough and make envelope
Give 1 double turn
Keep in the freezer for 12 hours approximately

Cottage Cheese : - 200 gms
Sugar : - 2 cups
1 litre milk
1 tsp Cardamom powder
1 tsp Almonds
1 tsp Pistachios

How to Make Paan Ki Ramalai
Mix sugar and milk
Boil till it gets reduced to its half
Make balls from paneer and flatten them in center
Preapare sugar syrup
Boil the syrup over medium heat
Put paneer balls in it and boil it for few minutes
Add paneer balls in the milk sugar mixture
Keep it for cooling
Add almonds and Pistachios
Serve it chilled

2010 Commonwealth Games and India Tourism Industry


Delhi - the capital city of India, is the new born host of eminent Commonwealth Games that are supposed to be held in 2010 staring from 3th October to 14 th October.
